Quality Standards Updates

In the spirit of scientific rigor and at the request of many participating clinicians, we implemented a new PQM (Plan Quality Metric) system to evaluate submitted plans from all over the world.  As stated on this website it was not our intent to define an absolute method of plan evaluation; rather, begin the conversation of utilizing metrics to begin defining what is achievable.  It is our firm belief that the use of metrics will lead us down the eventual path to not only increasing quality and consistency, but drive continuous improvement towards eventually establishing best practices in the field of Radiation Oncology.

The overall goal of this project is to provide a quality system for treatment planning and contouring which will drive clinical performance towards evidence-based outcomes and increased quality of patient care.  ROR would like to work with clinicians who have expressed an interest in our plan quality and contour assessment services.  This new service offering will be labeled ROSA, which stands for Radiation Oncology Skills Assessment and is a complete evaluation of contouring and planning through pre-defined metrics for comparative effectiveness.

ROR will launch a complete offering of clinical services by October 31, 2011.  These new clinical services will provide the opportunity for a metric-based evaluation of treatment planning and anatomy delineation.  The Skills Assessment/ Reassessment (ROSA) and Skills Development Training Programs will focus on:

  1. Quantitative Assessment
  2. Continuous Improvement
  3. Quality Metrics for improved outcomes

Please contact ROR for more information on how ROSA may benefit your personal, professional and department development.
